Help
What this app does, what it deliberately does not do, and how to get a person to look at your problem.

What the app is
A workspace for organising a VA disability claim you are filing yourself. It holds your records in one place, helps you build a timeline and an evidence list, and drafts the written statements that usually take the longest.
What it is not
- Not a law firm, accredited agent or Veterans Service Organization. We cannot represent you or argue your claim.
- Not a filing service. There is no button here that sends anything to the VA, and there never has been.
- Not legal or medical advice. A draft this app produces is a starting point for you to correct, not an opinion.
- Not a predictor. Nothing here estimates your chance of being granted anything. Where you see progress, it counts preparation tasks you have completed — not the likelihood of an award.
How each part works
Veteran profile
Your service periods, dependants and representative. These feed the drafts, so a gap here shows up as a gap in a document later. Nothing is required before you can use the rest of the app.
Document vault
Upload records, decision letters and treatment notes. Files are stored privately against your account; only you, and staff you explicitly approve, can retrieve them. You can download any file back and check it byte-for-byte against what you uploaded, and you can delete any file permanently.
Decision letter analyzer
Reads a VA decision letter and pulls out the conditions, the outcomes and the stated reasons. It works on PDFs with a text layer. A scanned letter — a photograph or a fax, with no text layer — is detected and refused with a message saying so, because reading it would require OCR that this app does not do yet. It does not guess.
Treatment chronology
A dated list of what happened and when, which you build by hand. Partial dates are allowed — "06-2011" is a valid entry. Events can be tied to a condition and to a document.
Evidence checklist
Per condition, the things a claim of that kind usually needs: a current diagnosis, something showing it started or worsened in service, and a link between the two. Each item is marked done, not done, or not applicable, and the denominator is always visible. Removing evidence moves the checklist back. Generating a draft never ticks anything off by itself.
Statements and letters
The app drafts three kinds of document on the matching VA form: a personal statement (21-4138), a buddy statement (21-10210) and a nexus letter for a doctor to review and sign. You can edit your personal statements and nexus letter drafts. Buddy statements preserve what your witness submits and cannot be edited in your account. Read each document, mark it reviewed, then print or download the whole thing — the full text, with no truncation.
Buddy statements
You can ask someone who served with you to write what they remember. The app emails them a private link to a simple form. They need no account and pay nothing. The link works for 14 days, you can cancel it at any time, and a new link immediately kills the old one.
The person you invite is shown your first name and the one sentence you typed describing what to write about. They do not see your conditions, your documents, your surname or anything else in your workspace.
Disability calculator
Combines ratings the way the VA does, which is not addition. Enter your current ratings to see what a new one would change.
DBQ bank
Disability Benefits Questionnaires to take to your doctor.
Account and data
From Account & Data you can export everything the app holds about you, and you can close your account. Both are described on that page in the terms they actually work: an export is built in the background and is available for 24 hours; a deletion freezes your account immediately, cancels any export in progress, and cannot be undone. Download what you want to keep before you start a deletion.
Getting help from a person
Email support@soldierclaims.ai. Tell us what you were doing and what happened. If the screen showed a reference code, include it — it points straight at the record of your request.
Common questions
Does using this app affect my claim?
No. The VA has no visibility into this app. It changes nothing about your claim until you file the documents yourself.
Can I use this and a VSO?
Yes, and many veterans do. Nothing here conflicts with being represented.
What happens to my drafts if I close my account?
They are deleted with everything else. Export first if you want copies.
I think something on a screen is untrue.
Please tell us. A screen that overstates what happened is treated as a defect here, not a wording preference.
